RSEnergyMetrix Energy Management Software

RSEnergyMetrix is a software package offered by Rockwell Automation that (in general) provides tools to manage energy usage of a building or plant. Some of its main features are:

• Captures, analyzes, stores, and shares energy data across the entire enterprise.
• Combines data communication tools, client-server software, and Microsoft’s .NET web technology to put energy information right on a (possible) remote computer from the factual field.
• Correlate energy costs to production costs.
• Generate energy reports and charts for a process, department, facility or an enterprise.
• Make decisions on electrical capacity.
• Avoid unscheduled shutdown.

Cconnectivity

RSEnergyMetrix has to connect to your building / plant’s energy source somehow to be able to monitor the usage. This can be done one of the few ways below:

• Connect to metering points from your PC.
• Connect to power monitors & PLCs
• Optional third party device connectivity via OPC with 3PX option.

Different Packages & Pricing

There are various packages that can be purchased for RSEnergyMetrix. Everyone needs to buy the Base Package. Some additional features that can be purchased are listed below:

• RSEnergyMetrix RT: Providing real time communication
• Power Quality: Capture and overlay waveforms to correlate phase to phase relationships.
• ChartsPlus: Providing more advanced charts.
• ReportsPlus: Providing more advanced reports.

Starting pricing ranges from a little over $2000 to over $12000. This is of course the MSRP price. Your price could be considerably lower depending on your order size and distributor.

Also pay attention that a good chunk of the price will be the power monitors (such as the one shown above) that you have buy to monitor the power meters).
