FactoryTalk Historian provides a buffering option that can save (buffer) plant data if the Interface Node loses its connection to the Historian server. When the connection becomes available all the buffered data will be sent to the Historian server. This is to avoid data loss.

Choose your Interface Node.

When you do click on “Service” a pop-up will appear recommending to set the PIBufss service to e a dependency of the buffer subsystem service. So choose Yes.

This helps locate and correct sources of inefficiencies and process or batch variables. It is also more often than not required by law to keep track of the plant data.
