Emerson Electric (NYSE: EMR) won a contract to modernize 100 hydroelectric turbines in the Ukraine. A contract worth $28 million. The project will upgrade a 8 plants that were built between 1939 and 1975 plus a 9th built in 1983. These 9 plants supply 4639 MW, approximately 90% of Ukraine’s total usage.
Each of the nine UkrHydroEnergo hydroelectric plants will be monitored and controlled by an Ovation system, while Ovation supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) technology will integrate and communicate information from all 100 turbine generators so operators can transfer important data between generating sites and UkrHydroEnergo and national dispatch centers. Other Emerson technologies for this project include Rosemount® measurement instrumentation, CSI vibration monitoring systems, and AMS Suite predictive maintenance software.
