DeviceNet Diagnostic Faceplate in a ControlLogix file allows you to load, configure, and use pre-configured status and diagnostic displays or “faceplates” for a DeviceNet network using FactoryTalk View. These “faceplates” rely on pre-programmed, ready to use ladder logic in the ControlLogix. The following quote is from the User Instruction that comes with the faceplate package:
In the past, it has taken a considerable amount of extra time and effort to develop these HMI screens. It also takes a more intimate knowledge of the diagnostic data available to the controller from the network module(s). Additional ladder logic would also need to be added to the control program to bring back extra diagnostics, not normally available to the controller.
The DeviceNet Faceplate application takes already, developed HMI screens and interfaces them back to a controller. Inside the controller is a small amount of already developed ladder logic that can easily be dropped in and customized for the control system. This logic provides an interface structure of data to/from the HMI and also reads some extra data out of the DeviceNet modules that is not normally available back to the controller.
he screen shots below give a basic overview of the screens available to you with the DeviceNet Faceplates. These screens present the data collected from the network by the controller in an organized visual fashion.
If can want to find the DeviceNet diagnostic faceplate simply go to Rockwell Automation knowledge base, search for DeviceNet Diagnostic Faceplate and download the zip file. You do need an account with the right permissions (depending on your contract with Rockwell) to access the article though.
