Chrysler Partners With Siemens Industry Automation Division
Chrysler Group LLC announced July 26 it has selected Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of Siemens Industry Automation Division, as its provider for product design and development services.
Chrysler Group already uses Siemens Teamcenter product since 2008 and the latest announcement will further strengthen the existing relationship between two companies. As part of the deal, Chrysler Group will use Siemens NX digital product development solution for its vehicle development process.
In May this year, Chrysler announced that it will stop using the Catia systems from Dassault and switch to Siemens NX. Fiat has already been using Siemens technology for several years and now that it’s the controlling owner of Chrysler, it wants to move all its operations to Siemens software.
To start off, Chrysler Group will use the NX platform for the upcoming Chrysler-Fiat vehicle and it is expected to be fully integrated into all Chrysler Group vehicle design, development and power train programs over a period of time.
Siemens PLM technology will enable Chrysler Group to utilize common processes & tools, improve speed to market, increase the overall efficiency in vehicle design & development process and reduce overhead development costs.
