ABB Systems Releases High-Performance System 800xA 5.1

Last week ABB announced the availability of version 5.1 of System 800xA, its flagship Industrial Extended Automation System. The new version provides an overall performance boost, reduces the physical footprint and provides several add-on tools to improve operator effectiveness.

On the occasion of latest System 800xA release, the company announced that it has already sold this system to more than 6,000 customers across a wide-variety of verticals. The company is by far the leader in automation systems for several niche verticals including pulp and paper, oil and gas. ABB projects the System 800xA as the industry’s first “true integration platform” which has been a game changer in automation systems.

With the new release, ABB takes operator effectiveness to a new level by providing sophisticated alarm management capabilities in order to provide a highly secure operating environment. The latest System 800xA version works on Windows-7 and its base system can manage up to 120,000 objects.

Virtualization is gaining increasing acceptance in the automation systems and ABB leads the pack by offering VMware VSphere4 ESX/ESXi integration in version 5.1. Other significant features of version 5.1 include
