ABB, ranked amongst world’s leading automation solution providers, last week announced the opening of its fourth global wind power generator factory at Vadodara in Gujarat, India. The new 16,000 square meter facility will employ nearly 150 people and will be capable of producing up to 100 units of the power generators per month with a rating of up to 2.5MW.
The new facility will cater to wind power needs of ABB’s worldwide customers and is expected to further solidify the company’s position amongst the leading players in the wind power sector.
The Wind Power sector has received a tremendous boost in the last few years as countries are under pressure to reduce emissions in wake of environmental hazards.
India is a booming wind market and ABB is already amongst the leading established players in the wind power segment. Out of its one billion plus population, nearly 300 million Indians do not have access to electricity and power deficits rank amongst the highest concerns in this developing country. India is already world’s 5th largest producer of wind energy and ABB has played a big role in promoting the country’ wind power ambitions.
ABB has an impressive portfolio of wind power products spanning blades, motors, drives, transformers and low- and medium-voltage equipment.
