ABB Secures $50 Million Solar Order in Italy

According to ABB.com, ABB has secured a $50 million dollar order from Actelios SpA in Italy to supply three photovoltaic (PV) solar power plants in western Sicily. The order was booked in the second quarter, 2010. The project is set to be completed by end of 2010.

The plants will have fixed PV modules and a total power capacity of over 13 megawatts (MW). The main plant will be erected in Spinasanta with a capacity of 6 MW. Additional plants will be built at Cardonita (3.8 MW) and at Sugherotorto (3.3 MW).

$50 million is considerably a large order for a single order. There’s been a series of good news (company acquisitions, cash in hand, new large orders, etc) about ABB lately. Watch for their stock price to beat the expected values after their next quarterly reports are out.
